ZaniL Design -April 2009 News

Welcome to ZaniL Design Elegant handmade Jewellery

First of all a great big thank you for supporting local artists and buying Australian Handmade. It really does help and since I have been in this business I have changed the way I shop, preferring to support small business people like my self. I get a good feeling that I am helping the local economy is a small but crucial way. So thank you again.

Across are pictures of a customers recent wedding. I made the wedding jewellery in these pictures.
Thank you to Anna ( bride) who allowed me to use these photo's on my blog.

When looking at these photos click on them to enlarge them.

This month I have written 5 posts and they are below. At a glance they are

  • New item page- Sterling silver Alphabet bracelets
  • Specials page to give you some bargains to make gift giving affordable and special
  • mother's day Necklace Ideas
  • Mothers Day Earring ideas ( 18 new pairs)
  • Gardening ( new section) -Growing for health and flavour.

I do hope you will enjoy reading these and get some inspiration and please comment if you have anything at all to say. I always like to put some thought provoking ideas into my blog so today I am going to write about the benefits of buying handmade.

Why buy handmade?

Sometimes a handmade item is more expensive and yes it would be cheaper if you made it yourself. An hand made item is a tangible object , but if we take an something intangible for example like the skill of a lawyer we can perhaps compare what we are actually paying for when we buy an hand made item.

A lawyer is skilled in the area of legislation of the courts and will have acquired this knowledge after years of study. When we are in need of a lawyer it would be cheaper to defend our selves if we had the time to learn the appropriate legislation, but we do not have the time to learn all the in's and outs of what is really needed so in effect we are paying for time, as we could all acquire knowledge.

When buying a handmade item you are buying a unique item filled will creativity and quality workman ship as well as the time you have saved in not making it your self. You are also buying an item made with love as well as the skill the artist has aquired through years of perfecting their art.

So that sums it up really and you probably knew that already.

I have found a great little poem that will strengthen your resolve especially if you are doing it tough in business or another part of your life. Here it is .

Don't Quit

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,

When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,

when the funds are low and the debts are high,

Any you want to smile but you have to sigh,

When care is pressing you down a bit,

Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

For life is queer with its twists and turns,

As every one of us sometimes learns,

and many a failure turns about,

when he might have won if he'd stuck it out.

Success is just failure inside out,

The silver tint of the clouds of doubt.

And you never can tell how close you are,

It may be near when it seems so far.

so Stick to the fight when you're hardest hit,

It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.

Cheers everyone.

best regards always

Encouraging small businesses can indeed help, it would distribute the money more dispersely through the economy. As you have mentioned, hand made jewelry, though a little more expensive, is actually designed with more precision. The handmade item is also unique!
